Fifth wheels with a rear patio typically come in two forms:

1.  Toy haulers that are equipped with a ramp, designed to fold down to load toys like ATVs or a golf cart
    
2.  Dedicated rear patios, accessible with a floor that folds out from the rear wall of the RV – similar to a toy hauler, except without the ability to fold all the way down to be used as a ramp
    

Fifth wheels with rear patios are equipped with foldable railings that can be folded down when not in use as can be raised when using the space as a patio. Many come with a rear entry door as well, though setup is required for stairs that attach to the rear patio to make it accessible from the ground level.

Traditionally rear patios were only offered in toy haulers, as the rear area of the fifth wheel doubled as sleeping, dining, or recreational space. However, with the increase in RV owners using the toy hauler space for reasons *other* than storing off-road equipment, RV makers have responded by introducing more floor plans that make the rear area of the fifth wheel into dedicated recreational space instead of the focus on utility.

Newer floor plans that aren't designed for hauling large toys often come with dedicated "outdoor" kitchen that can be easily access from the rear patio. (The outdoor kitchens are *technically* inside, but easily accessible by a sliding door or netting.) Note that they're not full kitchens, but instead a second kitchen designed to cater to the needs of outdoor recreational activity.
