Outside Van built the Approach 170 around genuine off-grid independence, a 13.2 kWh / 1030Ah lithium-ion power system, hydronic diesel heat for both the cabin and water, a 48V rooftop air conditioner, and 140W of solar mean you're not tethered to a hookup. The extra length over the 144 buys real interior breathing room, with an upper accordion-folding bed system, a lower bench/bed, and a removable two-post dinette that can flex the space depending on the day. The galley comes stocked with a stainless fridge, induction cooktop, and overhead microwave, while the hidden water box tucks a full toilet and shower into the layout without dominating it. A rear exterior shower, air compressor with three connection points, and a full L-track package round out the kind of utility that makes the 170 as capable at a trailhead as it is on a long highway stretch.
