Class A motorhomes often have more than one sleeping area, but they don't usually include a second bedroom like these floor plans. (We consider it a bedroom when there's floor space to walk around.)

While the options are limited, they offer more space for guests or kids that feels more like an actual bedroom rather than just offering a bed in a shared living space or in a closed off "closet" (like many bunk beds).

More traditional options with separate sleeping areas (that aren't included here) are options like a bunk over the cab or a bunkhouse, typically located in a slide out.

Benefits of two bedrooms

  • True privacy for kids or guests – a second actual bedroom is a big upgrade from bunks in a hallway or sleeping on a sofa
  • No hassle of converting sofas and tables into beds every night
  • Excellent for longer trips/full-time RVing – everyone having their own defined space can make a huge difference after weeks together
  • Good separation from main living area - keeping kids toys, clothes and belongings separated is good for mom's sanity
  • Better sleep schedules for everyone; kids can go to sleep without the whole RV shutting down for the night
  • Second room can also convert into an office or a school room as needed

Things to consider

  • Limited floorplan selections - there aren't many of these options available
  • Can feel more compartmentalized and less open and spacious overall
  • You’re generally looking at longer, heavier Class As, which can make campsites and maneuvering more challenging

A true 2 bedroom motorhome is rare in the Class A world, which is why this list is short. Most coaches stretch their sleeping capacity with convertible furniture, a cab-over bunk, or a bunk room in a slide, so a second room with real floor space is the exception. The Invicta 36Y and its close cousin the Fortis 36Y are the two-bedroom floor plans shoppers ask about most.

If you're shopping this layout for a family, walk the floor plan diagram before you fall in love with it. Ask how the kids reach the bathroom at night and whether they have to pass through your room to get there, and check that the bath is usable without deploying the slides for rest-stop and truck-stop stops. You may end up happier in a bath and a half layout or a bunk bed floor plan than in a strict two-bedroom coach.

Good to know: towables offer far more choices here. If you're open to towing, there are many more fifth wheels with two bedrooms and a handful of travel trailers with two bedrooms to compare.

Do any Class A motorhomes really have two bedrooms?

Yes, but only a handful. Most manufacturers add sleeping space with a bunkhouse slide or a convertible sofa instead of a second room, so at any given time you may only find one or two current two bedroom Class A floor plans on the market.

How many people does a two bedroom Class A motorhome sleep?

Usually six to eight. The main bedroom handles two, the second bedroom typically adds two to four depending on whether it uses bunks or a full-size bed, and a sofa or dinette conversion in the living area can pick up the rest.

How long is a 2 bedroom motorhome?

Expect the longer end of the Class A range, commonly in the mid to upper 30 foot range and sometimes over 40 feet. Fitting a second room with walkable floor space takes length, so check campground length limits if you like state parks.

What are the options if I can't find a two bedroom Class A?

Look at Class A coaches with a bunkhouse or a bunk over the cab first, since they solve the same problem with more choices. If you're willing to tow instead of drive, fifth wheel trailers with two bedrooms offer many more layouts, and there are a few travel trailers with two bedrooms as well.
