Class A motorhomes with rear bath

A rear bath in a Class A motorhome puts the toilet, shower, and vanity all at the very back of the coach, creating a suite-like feel as you can shower, get dressed and get ready all in the utmost privacy of your own little retreat in the back.

The Challenger 37DS and the Vista 33K show how this layout works across different coach lengths, so you can compare a shorter, easier-to-park option against a roomier one.

Class A motorhomes with rear bath and...

Benefits of rear bath

  • Roomier. Because it gets the entire width of the RV, you often get a legitimately roomy shower, more counter space, bigger sinks/vanity, and better storage. Some feel surprisingly residential.
  • More privacy. The bathroom is tucked behind the bedroom instead of sitting in the middle of the coach. You don't have everyone walking past it all day.
  • Better separation when traveling with kids/guests. If someone is sleeping on a sofa or bunk up front, the primary bedroom/bath area can feel like its own private zone.
  • Usually more bathroom storage. Rear baths frequently have big linen cabinets, wardrobes, drawers, and sometimes washer/dryer placement nearby.

Things to consider

  • If it's the only bath, you may have foot traffic through the main bedroom from kids or guests
  • It can eat up valuable RV real estate, meaning smaller living room space, smaller bunks, etc.

Similar layouts

One thing experienced Class A owners flag early: in a rear-bath layout, a midnight trip to the toilet often means walking past the sleeping area, which can wake a light sleeper. If you travel with young kids who need nighttime bathroom access, a bath-and-a-half floor plan often solves this by adding a half bath toward the front or mid-coach. For families where that separation is important, it is worth filtering for that layout specifically, or comparing coaches with two full baths.

The rear bath in a Class A coach is also where you are most likely to find larger bathrooms as a whole and even dual vanities, since you have the width of the entire rear wall. Models like the Armada 40M and the Vision XL 36A are worth a look if a proper soak is on your list. If you are hunting a small Class A rear-bath coach, browse the shorter floor plans first and check the tub against the shower footprint.

Popular questions

How long are most Class A motorhomes with a rear bath?

Most rear-bath Class A floor plans run from about 33 to 45 feet. Shorter options in the 33 to 36 foot range are easier to maneuver and fit standard campsites, while longer coaches in the 40 to 45 foot range tend to add more space between the living area and the bath. Length is worth checking against your storage situation and the campgrounds you plan to visit.
