The Cricket's big trick is how little it asks of you when you're not camping. It tows like a feather, fits in a standard garage, and barely registers on your fuel economy. Pop the roof, though, and you've got a full-size bed with 25 cubic feet of under-bed storage, two kids' berths, a two-burner stove, a sink, a Truma Combi furnace and water heater, and an exterior hot-and-cold shower. The laser-cut aluminum skeleton and Kynar-painted composite panels keep weight honest without sacrificing build quality, and the recycled ripstop tent sides with five mesh windows give the whole space that "outside-in" feel owners consistently rave about. A Victron SmartSolar charge controller, pre-wired solar input, and a WFCO 40-amp lithium-compatible power center mean off-grid weekends are well within reach even in the standard configuration.
