What's surprising about the 172 is how much it fits into a package small enough for a compact SUV. Bunk beds, a wet bath with integrated sink and toilet, and a real kitchen with a two-burner range. The fiberglass roof and independent torsion axle give it more durability than you'd expect at this size, and the grey shaker cabinetry with solid lumber core cabinet fronts feels a step above typical budget-tier finishes. The optional Camper-Friendly Package is worth a close look, adding a solar charge port, outside shower, automatic front jack, and seamless stainless undermount sink. If you go the Hood River Edition route, you'll also get raised clearance and 15" off-road tires. Handy if your favorite sites are a little rougher around the edges.
