Forest River's top-tier diesel line, the Charleston 45D puts serious hardware under the hood, a Cummins ISL 450HP engine paired with an Allison 6-speed transmission and a Freightliner XCR chassis with Ultrasteer tag axle and V-Ride rear suspension that owners consistently praise for road stability. Inside, the full tile shower with teak seat and skylight stands out, and the kitchen and living spaces benefit from multiplex app control, a 2800W pure sine inverter, and six AGM house batteries (upgradeable to 600Ah lithium with an 800W solar package). The powered basement slide trays and full pass-through storage help offset what can feel like tight interior storage in a layout this busy. Optional upgrades like a basement freezer, powered theater seating, and Starlink make this one of the more customizable floor plans in its class. At a price point that still undercuts boutique diesel brands by a meaningful margin.
