The 284X is built around Coachmen's Turn-Tec engineering, which gives it one of the tightest turning radii of any fifth wheel towed by a short-bed truck, a genuinely practical advantage that most floor plans gloss over. Azdel composite sidewalls and laminated aluminum framing eliminate the wood rot and mold risk that haunts traditional construction, and the Weather Shield+ system has been cold-tested to 0° and heat-tested to 110°. Inside, a residential 60"×80" pillow top mattress and a full bath punch well above the "lite" label, and the optional X-Package adds real upgrades: a 50–55" HD TV, electric fireplace, stainless appliances, and roller night shades. Owners also appreciate the optional 4-point auto-leveling system, which remembers hitch height between trips, a small detail that saves real hassle at the end of a long tow day.
Other fifth wheel trailers floor plans (around 33 ft 7 in), similar in size and price to the Chaparral X-Lite 284X.
