Inventory pricing report (& more new features)

We just added some new features to make RV shopping a little easier.

On RV Envy, you can now:

  • Get notified when a price drops on a specific unit
  • Read a pricing report that shows the price history of a unit available for sale
  • Subscribe to email alerts when new inventory becomes available

Dealerships or dealer networks might make these features available on their own website, but to my knowledge there hasn't been a system until RV Envy that works across dealers. RV Trader is the best resource, but it’s dependent on the dealers paying to display their listings on RV Trader. (RV Envy doesn’t charge dealers for their listings to be included.)

We’re building the Zillow of RVs

Unlike the home buying industry in the US (where Zillow and Redfin aggregate listings from a central database, MLS), there has never been a single source for this data for new RVs. So we’ve decided to build our own.

You can imagine why dealerships haven’t built this type of system. They don’t want you shopping across different dealerships – they want you to come to them and only shop from their inventory.

So how can you be sure you’re getting a fair deal at your local dealer? Well, you need to be able to compare prices between dealerships.

When you’re looking at a floor plan on RV Envy, you can get an inventory report that aggregates listings for all new inventory available in dealers across the country. We prioritize showing listings from dealers who actually publish the sale price instead of hiding it behind a “contact us” form.

Inventory report & new inventory alerts

With one click you can find everything that’s available across America.

Available inventory

If you want to keep an eye on new units, you can now subscribe to new inventory alerts. You’ll get an email when we find a new unit of the same floor plan. This is a great way to not miss out on those hard-to-find units.

If you're just interested in price changes for an individual unit, read on...

Inventory alerts

Price drop alerts

RV Envy has an inventory pricing report that can serve as a general guide on if a sale price is fair. But that’s not all…

We’re also tracking price changes. (These usually happen when a unit has been on the lot for a while, so dealers drop the price until it sells.)

You can subscribe to alerts for an individual unit on the floor plan page under the "Watch listing" column.

Watch a
listing

In writing this post, I noticed something suspicious with a listing for a fifth wheel where the price increased by $25,000 after the unit had already been on the market for several months. It’s possible the price was originally incorrect, but given this unit had already seen nearly a dozen price reductions of $500 over many months, my hunch is that the dealership put on a sale where they increased the price on the unit to compensate for the sale. (This is only my speculation.)

Pricing
history

Some dealers have fixed pricing where there’s no need to negotiate. But unfortunately the vast majority of dealers are still looking to maximize the amount of money they can charge you on the purchase price, so having this level of transparency when negotiating a deal is incredibly useful.

Find it all on the Dashboard page

The Dashboard is becoming the best place to track all the RVs you're interested in. It even has a handy toggle to see the floor plan – just in case you forgot which model it is!

Dashboard page

You'll need an RV Envy account to try these new features. It's free and I don't spam you with anything. Creating an account is how we keep track of what kind of RVs you're interested in.

If you don't have an account, just browse around until you find a floor plan you're interested in. You'll be prompted to create an account after that. Or if you're already logged in, you can visit the Dashboard right now!

What’s next?

Right now you can only get alerts for inventory nationwide, but soon we’ll add the ability to limit your search to a specific region.

You’ll find many of the new features on the Dashboard page that you'll see in the navigation after you log in. I’ve love to have you give them a try and reach out if you have any feedback!
