The Forest River Berkshire XL 40BH earns its following by doing something rare: fitting a genuine bunkhouse layout into a coach that still drives like a proper luxury diesel pusher. Under the hood is a Cummins ISL 380-hp turbo diesel mated to an Allison 3000MH six-speed, a combo owners consistently describe as smooth and trouble-free on long highway miles. Inside, the 84-inch ceiling height and vacuum-bonded construction give the cabin a solid, airy feel, and the full-body painted exterior with four-coat clear is hard to miss at a campground. Options like a stackable washer/dryer, stainless dishwasher, and a third 13,500 BTU air conditioner let you configure the Berkshire XL 40BH closer to a stationary residence than a weekend rig.
